Sigma or Canon Macro OS/IS lens?

Looking to buy a new Macro lens and I'm torn between the Sigma 105mm f2.8 EX OS DG lens or the Canon 100mm f2.8L but also putting the 150mm EX OS DG Sigma in the picture as well. Weight isn't an issue holding the lens but I like the IF feature of a lens. Any thoughts and views on any of the lenses in practical use would be appreciated. I had the older Sigma 150mm version a few years back but I really fancy the OS/IS feature these lenses now have. What a dilemma to have :bonk:
 
I can only comment on the Canon models, but I had the non-IS 100mm, then upgraded to the L IS and downgraded again - don't get me wrong the L lens is outstanding and the IS function is quite handy (more so on a post 7D body) but the 100mm is very capable and close enough on the IQ front.
 
I've got the Canon 100 IS L Macro and after over a year of owning it I still get amazed at the results I get with it. I use it mainly on my 5D3 but have recently been trying it out on my 7D and can get some excellent shots using AF on both bodies.

This is a shot taken handheld on my 5D3 and 100, it's SOOC and the only PP is a crop.

I've not used any of the other lenses you mentioned but if you need to get in closer you could always get a set of extension tubes to go with it. The Sigma 105mm does get some great reviews and I've seen lots of great photos on here in the macro section that have been taken with it.
 
If you can afford the canon L, go for that. Stunning lens, and the IS really works well.
 
The L IS is a wonderful lens, as sharp as 70-200mm f/2.8 II. IS helps a lot in most situations. Most importantly AF is very fast and quite accurate. In comparison Sigma 150 AF is complete lame dog.

Your comments are as entertaining as ever.

The Siggy is however a very good lens. It's 150mm, obviously, giving a greater working distance, it's sharp wide open and it comes with a tripod collar, a hood and a case. It makes a pretty good portrait lens and general purpose longish lens too and it's deffo worth a look even if you end up going for the Canon.
 
My sigma 150 was actually very fast at autofocus. In fact both of them were...
I'd still pick the 100L over it though, purely because the L really is super sharp, and the IS works even at macro distances.
 
Think I'm going take the plunge and get the Canon L series after reading lots of reviews and trusting my other L series lenses which have always been pin sharp.
