Slave Fault?

Yes, it's called SCR Lock Out and happens with some Canon guns. You can get modified slaves (guy in the US does them for $40-ish I think, plus shipping) but the best way is to get radio triggers and be done with it (probably).

Yongnuo RF-602 from Flash In The Pan, they are cheap as chips. Don't bother with the even cheaper PT-04 - reports of too many problems for the sake of a tenner.

Just in case there's another solution, what are you trying to do and what equipment have you got exactly?

I have tried them on some Centon flashes I have all same I have teh rf-602 this was to use two unites for the background

Sorry, I don't understand what you're saying here.

the slaves do the same on the 580EX II as well as two Centon F.H.8.5 flash heads I have I was hoping to use the two Centon for back lighting with my 5800EXII as main light or to light my background with my studio light

Hmm. 580EXII is not one of the Canon flashes I thought was afflicted by SCR Lock Out (580 MkI is) and I'd be surprised if the Centons also had it, too. However, it does sound exactly like SCR Lock Out (I've had it)...

You have an RF-602? How does it work with that? Sounds like the answer either way.
