Hello everyone!

Went to a family dinner today and my Grandad gave me all his old SLR cameras and lenses and I'm in luck, there is a Minolta 5xi with a 100-300mm Lens and a 28-80mm lens which both fit my Sony A230!! Bingo! There is also a Pentax K1000 with a 50mm lens attached.

I was wondering if anyone knows about the Minolta 5xi? What do I do about the battery? There is a card slot, what sort of card do I need?
There is a instruction manual but I haven't got it with me. There is also a box of "Brownie" cameras and/or similar things to this which I haven't got with me at the moment. He said to throw away anything I don't want (pfftt, yeah okay!)

Any help you could give me would be much appreciated, and any valuations just in case would also be helpful.

Thanks :thumbs::thumbs:

The card slot is for personality modules to enable different features and shooting modes...I presume they could be bought at extra cost from the supplier at the time.

It may have been to keep the body price down so people could get on the SLR ladder without spending on a camera that did everything but could have functionality added? No idea what the bodies cost new though, so that's just a guess.

I have a Minolta 7000i and some cards which I bought s/h as my first SLR - it's a large part of the reason I use Sony now.
