I've looked at long tailed Tit photos after you comments and I would agree with you corresponding to my memory and what I saw of it in the flesh. N|ever seen one before so thanks for that , any idea on the second one ? Everything it seemed to have a go at eating resulted in it being upside down ?

Worth getting hold of a bird book or 2. Keep an eye out in charity shops for 2nd hand ones - not many things have changed much in the past few years! The ones we use most are the Collins one and a Kingfisher one (publisher, not group specific!)

I'll try the Merlin app.

I use 'Seek' - often quick and accurate if I am stuck, and sometimes so lousy that a Reed Warbler is a 'Bird' and can't identify a Common Kingfisher....
