One of the best tools for photography is an open mind! In a reverse situation to yours, a few years ago, I was taking shots of boats in a harbour and seascapes when a Kingfisher landed on a mooring rope about 10' away from me. Didn't get the best shot of it but it's one of very few kingy shots I have!
