Ok I'm in my 3rd year of trying to take photos and all was going great IMO I was getting better but my photos have gone soft/out of focus when using my 55-250. Some times its just soft and others its as if its over exposed (same settings same conditions and same subject)

Is it more likely to be a problem with my lens of my body?

yes I did try a different lens but all I have is the 18-55 kit lens which I've never really used so cant compare to older photos

I know its an open vague question but I dont want to fork out for a new lens only to find its the body

Thanks
Rob

Hmm, that's strange. If it's having the same effect on both of your lenses it would be likely that the camera has a problem. If it's just the 55-250 it could be the focus motor on the lens. Try putting a few photos on here so we can see what's gone wrong as that might help.

I dropped my 7D a while ago and one of the problems I was having after that was very similar to what you're experiencing now. I had both PCB's and the AF motor replaced on my 7D and it's back to its best again. It might be worth getting your camera looked at to be on the safe side.

this is the sort of thing I'm talking about

both taken in the same conditions with a different out come
the pics are cropped and resized but I dont think that is what caused the problem as they look the same out of the camera
I thought I had got passed this sort of thing with my photography :(

I even spent time playing with speeds to see if I could change it but nothing seemed to work

Rob,

I actually think they're ok.
I'm not sure if I understood correctly what you're complaining about, but you can't forget that when using bigger focal lengths we always get a shallow depth of field. That's why you only have the cars in focus.

Hi Rob,

To be honest I'm not really sure what flaw we're supposed to be looking for. They seem fine to me although they're very small images so problems aren't necessarily going to be all that obvious.

What exactly is the problem you're having?

I just feel that the pics have lost sharpness over all. I find them fuzzy around the edges of the cars and some are coming out a lot lighter than others.
Maybe I just need to get back to the opticians :/ the wife keeps telling me they are fine but they just look soft and a little fuzzy to me lol

Seems fine to me ........

image sharpness can be anything from lens to technique .........
