Yes
If I were to replace the translucent material on my soft boxes with something a little thicker, should I prioritise the inner or outer panel?
ie with which would I see the best gains in evenness and softness?
Power is not a problem but I have just enough material for one or the other only.

I'd be guessing and say the inner, but it is just a guess.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I always thought the inner diffusion's main function was to even the output so the front diffuser has fewer hot spots.

If the goal is to soften the light wouldn't it be better achieved by just placing the material between your light source and the subject rather than trying to fit it into the softbox?
