Some advice guys please

Gig photography plus medium zoom

Canon 70-200 f2.8 L or Sigma 120-300 f2.8, which one would you guys buy.

i tend to try and get closer personally the 24-70 being my weapon of choice, but out of those 2 the 70-200. the other is just too big and heavy!

I suppose it depends on how close you can get. I regret selling my 120-300 as it really was a sharp lens. I do imagine that the IS on a 70-200mm if that is the version you go for would be very important shooting gigs. There will definately be times when the artist or band aren't moving too much and camera shake would definatel be a problem with the 300mm with typical gig lighting.

I would have thought fast primes would have been more useful for gigs.
