im looking into investing into a photo printer that i can use to print out general photos etc (at home)...

it wont need to be all singing and dancing as im using for personal use only and not for selling/customer use or anything....

i'm after pretty good results so i can make up some albums etc of my hobby, so figured cheapy efforts may not satisfy so looking for a photo printer (and maybe even a photo scanner included) in the middle ground... not cheap and nasty, but equally not thousands of pounds made of gold...

Could anyone recommend anything suitable??

was originally thinking of having to spend more money to get a decent one....


theres numerous of these and very similar ones available... how good are they on cartiridges to prints etc?? reviews always claim they can print out x prints per carttridge but that's a fantasy normally... also do the replacement cartridges require mortgages for them??
 
I have a Canon iP4600, cost about £60 a while ago now and usually buy a set of five replacement cartridges from Amazon for about £13 plus delivery. OK for general use.

I have an Epson Stylus PhotoPX710W printer that also do photocopies and will take SD and CF cards direct. Also will print on a CD with its own built on disc holder.
it has 2 trays for different sizes of paper far better than a top feed type. something to think about this hold 6 different colour cartridges as well .Some only have 2, one black and the other multicolour, not a good idea.

I would go canon. Both the above models are discontinued replaced by the ip4950 which is a A4 printer for around £60. If you want to print A3 go for the ix6550 which is about £130-£150.
 
Printers are sold cheap - the manufacturers make their money on ink, they try and scare you into using their branded cartridges but in over 20 years I've never had a printer fail due to using third party refills. They are much cheaper and over the life of the printer will save you a fortune.

We bought the Kodak ESP 3.2 wireless thingy (not its official title), and I'm very impressed. The quality of prints (to my eyes) is excellent, and the ink costs are pretty reasonable. The wifi element is great, as we live in a flat with no computer desk as such, just our laptops.
