Sony & flash resyncing after switching shutter type.

After having experience using flash on Nikon & Canon, I've been stumped with this on Sony:

It seems that it's necessary to power cycle the flash or the camera itself in order to get the flash to fire after switching from electronic to mechanical shutter which for me is an inconvenience. I'd like to leave the flash on and simply change shooting mode by pre-programming my memory dial and using that as I've done with the Z6 and the R6. I'm using the Godox TT685, and according to this video the same additional step is required with the Godox V1 when moving from one mode to the other. My question is whether anybody else finds this inconvenient and if anybody has found a work around? Do all brands of flash exhibit the need to turn the flash off and then on again when you require it to function again? Cheers!!
