Sony/Zeiss 24/1.8 E Mount or Canon 24/1.4L

Anyone got the Carl Zeiss 24mm f1.8 for NEX? I will be after a high quality fast 24mm prime and not sure which to save for. The Canon is tested and trusted as being a superb performer but VERY pricey! There's not much on the Zeiss except some nice images on Flickr. The Zeiss will also be far cheaper at about £800. So anyone got the Zeiss yet and if you have what do you think?
 
if it's going on a NEX then the Zeiss will obviously AF & the Canon won't if thats a consideration ....?
& the Canon would need an adapter at additional cost.
 
The canon will be on a canon body, not the Nex :)
 
the Canon is FF, the Zeiss isn't.
I'm not really sure what your question is here?
what's the rest of the equation?
 
but can you even fit an E-mount (it's not a ZE) on a Canon?

so is the question NEX+24/1.8 or Canon+24/1.4?

No, you can't. So the question is very much which camera does the OP want to use? Andy, I thought you were ditching the Nex and going Canon only?

You are totally on the wrong end of the stick :lol:

I have a 550D and a NEX C3. To save dosh do i go Zeiss on the NEX or spend more and go 24 L on the 550D. They will both give roughly 35mm equiv focal length which is what i want. So is the Zeiss as good on the nex as the 24L is on the canon?

Sorry if my orig post was not informative enough. I do have a habit of asuming everyone knows exactly what I'm talking about :bonk:
 
well, the Zeiss is supposedly very good but I'm not sure that the C3 is the best body for it.
Unless you plan on going FF later it seems a shame to spend all that money on the 24/1.4 & not use a big chunk of it (& the combo will be bigger than NEX+Zeiss if size is a consideration).

P.S. Castle Cameras list the Zeiss @£749 which seems a good price

I do intend going FF at some point but I don't know if it will ever happen. I'm gonna save some dosh and re asses the situation then i think.Prices may be cheaper by then.

24/1.4L on a cropper is blasphemy! :o

Cheaper to get a 5D classic and put a 35/2 on it :)

doubt it, supposedly Sony prices going up on the 1st of April.

edit: apparently the Zeiss is selling like hot cakes & stock levels are low all over the world.
edit 2: supposedly available for £699 at Focus on Imaging show
