Heading for my 2nd lens upgrade. Well a much needed upgrade from the kit lens. But damn which of these I have chosen? I have pros and cons. Anybody fancy adding some more




Tamron 17-50 2.8 non VC

Pros:
Cheap
Cheap
Cheap
Great IQ (supposed)
Highly recommended
Could be mine by the end of next month
constant f2.8


Cons:
No IS
built wise as good as the kit lens (cheap)
old
hard rumours that will be discontinued
not half as sexy as its competitors down here.




Canon 15-85 IS USM

Pros:

Stunning IQ
IS USM
Brand new
big but not too big
Sexy


Cons:

Def not cheap
no lens hood
NO f2.8 (a bit of a draw back)
will be some time till I get it, around Sept (could I way that long??)
not as sexy as the coming lens



Canon 17-55 F2.8 IS USM


Pros:

Stunning IQ
constant f2.8
solid built (for a non L)
big and macho
instant orgasim

Cons

Bloody expensive
Bloody expensive
Bloody expensive
no lens hood
expensive indeed
will take me till end of year to get it
Not sure if camera upgrade is FF or 7d

i wouldnt class an instant orgasm or sexy as pro's, it sounds like you want to have sex with it than take photos's

i would actually go for the tamron 17-50mm, IS doesnt make much of a difference in that focal range so i wouldnt worry about it.

may i ask what would you be shooting, as the lens depends on the subject.

nope sex without weather proofing could be a bad idea :shake:
lapdance advisable.

I would agree in the Tamron non IS issue at tha focal lenght too.


And my main uses are photoshoots (girls/guys whatever), some lanscape photography, general photogrphy like shooting a monument at night. The kinda photography that u dont simply just take snapshots and comes whatever.

For gigs already have the 50 1.8 and works great at that
