Spotted this sparrow in next door's Bird Cherry tree.

That's interesting because they were both sharpened the same amount
The difference between the two were the orignal light levels.
In the frist one I had to up the exposure +1, but apart from that they have only been cropped and sharpen due to the image size reduction for posting.

By comparison I have adjsted the two images as per your suggestion...
Note: these images need comparing with there original not each other

The first shot is fantastic. I actually do not find it oversharpned. Seems to have just the right amount to it, looks very natural to me.
