Spec me a film/negative scanner?

2 weeks holiday means a chance to scan in all my old negatives from my old Nikon 35Ti and Ricoh GR1. Been meaning to buy a decent film scanner for some time .

I've read lots of reviews which haven't really helped to narrow the field but I was wondering if anyone had specific recommendations? Ideally it'll be able to scan prints and negatives both at good resolution. Budget is £150.

Look at the Epson range.
I have a V200 which I have had for a few years now. Which I used to scan colour slides which proved very successful.
I am also in the process of scanning some old 45 year old black and white Negatives. Some are damaged. But scanning is OK. And using Elements to repair.

At that price, an epson v500 is the main option new. You could look for second hand scanners, but you won't get too much better than that for your budget (there's a big jump in price to the higher spec scanners). If you relax the requirement to scan prints, then Jessops are doing the plustec 35mm dedicated scanner for £170 at the moment. It's a bit out of your budget, but it's supposed to be a very good unit.

Plustek, might be able to squeeze a 7400i out of that but a 7200 or 7300 will also do nicely. The higher numbered ones are capable of IR dust reduction and so forth, the 7200 isn't.
