My web host had a catastrophic failure a few weeks back. To make matters worse their back up system mistook joomla's template folders for temporary folders and didnt back any up. And to ice the cake the new server uses safe mode php and therefore isnt compatible with the gallery software I was using!

So I spent the whole weekend redesigning the site.. Its not completely finished yet and I think the template has a few bugs.

I'm particularly concerned the slideshow might take too long to load on a slower connection
 
On the Home page I am getting a mid grey box with a blue question mark in the top left corner. Some nice shots. The "Race of champions" box took my interest but no link just being told its in the gallery - went to gallery and when I clicked on Gallery at the top and clicked on 2008 it brought up a page with all the years on it so I had to click on 2008 again.

The site looks really professional. Just a few slight probs which shouldnt take long to sort. A link from the home page to specific event would help though.

thanks for the feedback.
there seems to be a bug in the template which wont let you use html on the news items so i had to delete all the links to galleries... hopefully they will fix it after I've raised a ticket because it looks pretty daft without the links
 
yes I thought it worked the first time then when I clicked on home page it was like that!
 
yep, grey box here to when I returned to the homepage having viewd a few others. Using firfox if thats any help


ok, generally, really liking the layout, clean and professional looking and most importantly, navigation is easy and self explanatory. However, a couple of personal gripes that you can probably take no notice of at all...

1 - on the blurb on the homepage, the intro bit, I think the bit about 'news links' should be less relevant, nearer the bottom of the intro as a 'brucie bonus' if you like, you are first and foremost a motorsport photographer, so that should take priority in your introduction imo.

2 - the galleries are very nice in thumbnails, and I dont even mind the pop outs for bigger images, but I get really annoyed when I have to close it before I can open the next one. Is there anyway in the coding you can have a rollover next arrow or something on the full size pop out pic? picky I know, but if i get annoyed by it, and i know howgood your pics are and want to see them, what is someone that is finding you for the first time goig to do....?

just my very humble opinion mind. ;)

I bet you have a backup now!!!

If you dont - get the Joom-Pack component, and do a whole site backup, and then explode it on another server elsewhere and TEST the backup

Sounds like your hosts are a bunch of muppets.

Thanks - I will do exactly that.

Normally my host are brilliant. I'll let them off this time (as they have turned a blind eye to my 800mb site on their 100mb limit package :) )
 
Hi badgerbaiter,

I'm building a joomla site atm and having issues with a picture gallery what do you use and where is it from?
I have been playing with simpleviewer but so far it won't work, my site is very loosely together and they won't work (is localhosted atm)
