Unbeliveable - they are everywhere. After struggling to get close in the UK, you're spoilt for sightings. Interestingly, they take insects as well as fish, and can be often seen perched in fields.

Blimey! They must be the equivalent of pigeons in Britain :D

Our British ones will take insects too, there are some farmers fields near me, which have drainage ditches...they can often be seen flying up and down them! I've been told there are no fish in them, so no other reason why they would be there! :)
 
I'm not really a birder myself but I was in Sri Lanka a few weeks back. There really are Kingfishers everywhere, all sorts :)
