Hello,

I decided to buy a camera. I am at the very beggining, I dont have any notion of lenses, sensors, brands, and all this specific stuff.

Until now, I have always used my cellphone to take my pictures, but now I want to increase the quality of my images.

I travel a lot and I study Tourism, so that a good camera is going to be very utile.

Maybe the DSLRs are too big for what I want to do, I dont intend to be a professional photographer.
I was looking for the compact advanced cameras because they are not that big, I dont have to change the lenses all the time, they have a manual mode and probably will fit in my pockets.

What indications of cameras do you have for me? (my budget is about 450 pounds)
What are the best places to buy a camera in London?

I will buy it in the UK, I will be studying in Sunderland for 3 months but before I will spend a few days e central London as a tourist.

There are some great compact cameras around nowadays - my personal one is a Canon G1X- mk 2; current version is MK3.

Sony RX100 is another excellent option.

A real way to learn photography is via the Fuji X100 camera - a few versions around within your budget.

Might be worth reporting this thread and asking for it to be moved to the equipment forum.

Finally, have fun [emoji16]

I was looking at the Sony RX100 Mark 2/3 and the Panasonic LX100 and LX10 as well. Between these ones, whats the best?

I would suggest looking for something like a used Olympus E-M10 - very small with the pancake zoom fitted, but able to do more if you develop your photography.

As I am not from England, where is the best place/site to buy an used camera?

My preferred used sellers:

London Camera Exchange (branches throughout the UK) https://www.lcegroup.co.uk/
Ffordes (based in Scotland) http://www.ffordes.com
Clifton Cameras (Dursley, Gloucestershire) https://www.cliftoncameras.co.uk
MPB have good prices, but can be a pain to contact when you want to buy https://www.mpb.com/en-uk/

These would fit your needs, though are not close to London or Scotland:
