Have been many a time. Unfortunately my knowledge is restricted to what is inside various sports arenas.
But some ideas that you could look into (photography wise) :
- the Old town (Gamla Stan) - suppose this is in every bigger city a place to visit.
- Anywhere by the water... you have so much water around Stockholm, and there are some tourist cruises that take you around some very scenic areas. Not sure how much these operate during the winter months?
- You can also get some nice cityscape shots from the bridges a little outside the city centre. Västerbron and Essingeleden (E4 and E20) offer some nice views towards the old town over the river.
I found a couple of nice shots from the bridge over from Soldermalm onto Gamla Stan, as you can pick out some of the nice spires and also get either the railway lines or water into shot for some nice reflections when the sun goes down. Gamla Stan has lots of little nooks and crannies to explore too, especially if you've got a superwide lens (which I haven't )
Alternatively, it's a candid shot paradise!! Take plenty of beer pennies with you though - it was an average £5 a pint when we there in May, and I'm guessing the exchange rate has got worse!!
