Hi folks,

Brand new to the world of photography, got myself a Nikon D3100 with a 50mm f/1.8d AI-S Nikkor prime lens.

I still have lots to learn through both trial and error in the way that digital photography allows and through many readings that I can find on the topic!

I'd just like a little critique on this image, anything with how I can improve, what I should consider in the future etc. Any edits are welcome!

hello and welcome.

Main issue is the tree across the shot.
Also the quality is a little poor so maybe work on it a little with the many types of free software out there, some of which should have come free with your Nikon, I think.
The shadow across the door isn't great so maybe try again in diffuse light and get closer to the door as the prime you have is a great little lens and can really show some detail. Not sure if it autofocusses though so can be tricky is you are new to it. You may be better with a kit zoom auto to start with.
