Storing raw and jpgs

Rather than clutter the other current thread on organising the storage of images I thought I'd raise this question:

I simply file ALL my original images in monthly folders within years. e.g.

/originals
/2011
/2011-01
/2011-02
.....etc

Any "sets" of images, i.e. from events or after PP'ing go in another set of folders. e.g.
/sets
/Event 1
/Event 2
...etc.

However, just to add to this debate (which at the end of the day is probably a lot down to personal preference) what do people do with raw and jpgs if, like me, you often use the option to save both files to memory card. Now I know somebody might say that the raw file is far better than the jpg and the latter can always be recreated, however, for those who do keep both do you keep them in the same folder or do you keep the raws and jpgs separately. At the moment I store both images in the relevant monthly folder within the originals folder structure above. However the disadvantage is that when browsing the folder you see all the duplicates. The advantage is that they are all in one place.

My way to store them by dates:
2011-02-23-00 23 feb 2011
2011-02-23-01 same day, but another event, place, etc

it is good idea to store small jpeg previews with RAW. Because once a year i want to find some place or event. So i write script, that extract all jpg, resize them to 100x100 and keep same folder structure.

Then in win explorer, i just command find all jpg in index folder. A huge icon list generated. It is huge, but win can handle small images, scrollable, so i can easy identify them visually, then just query file name, and searching for corresponding DVD. If there will be no jpegs already generated, then it will take ages to index it later.
