Wow - really nice. Super sharp, lovely colours (y)

For me it's #s 2,3 and the last one - love #3 especially.

One word Les...:)

Stunning.:notworthy:

What was it Les - 'Weirdo in York day' ???

Nice shots of course - but what on earth was the 1st one doing for entertainment? Washing the floor? She just looks like a Washer-woman :D

DD

Weirdo day-yes it was :) , York does tend to attract the kinda off-kilter, weird beards type of folk, the lady playing-her band is called the Peace Artistes, and the Peruvian Indian is from Bradford.

First lady was in the museum, putting on a little bit of theatre, reflecting a washerwomen's life on the railways in the 40's. So you are spot on ;)

Excellent series Les, great colours on the Indian shots (y)

Great set, images stand out from the screen! Excellent!

Man with red rimmed hat and saxophonist stand out for me!

Skilful, very very good stuff!

I'll echo what others have said.
Stunning set of pics..

They are all fantastic, but the first one is a cut above

:clap::clap:

Like them all, espically the first.Love the processing, just enough

Stunning set (as always), the first one is an absolute corker, the bokeh is so creamy smooth and the processing is spot on.

Thanks, it was taken at f1.2 @ 1/200 sec, ISO800 , one of the first images I processed from the day, and it made me realise just what an awesome lens the 85mm f1.2 lens is.

Just bought the lens from Tim (Busterboy) earlier in the week, so it was my first real try out, the bokeh from it is absolutely stunning.

Can see it becoming my favourite bit of glass :):)

I really wish I hadn't opened this thread as I was about to buy the 85mm f/1.8 but after seeing this and reading other reviews I now found myself leaning towards the f/1.4 version. :nono:

Out of curiosity, how much are the amazing colours in these shots down to:-

a.) The lens
b.) The exposure
c.) The post processing?

I've got the 70-300 IS USM which I like (I do similar shots, or try to!) but don't get anywhere near colours like these....

Difficult one Eddie, I think it's down to all three plus the light.

The lovely BG blur (bokeh) is definitely due to the lens, the day was generally sunny with scattered cloud, so I waited until the sun went behind the clouds to shoot, except for the last two, it was quite shaded, so I used a touch of fill flash to bring out the colours.

Post processing is generally tweaks to levels/curves/saturation/contrast/usm, but nothing too drastic.

Here's a screen grab part of one of the images before any post processing
