I am not really able to go out-and-about too much in the coming weeks so thought I'd practice a little more with indoors photography - objects and a little experimentation with people. To this end, I intend on affording myself a studio setup for as little money as possible. I don't want anything high-end or professional quality as this isn't somewhere I'm looking to go with my photography.

I read from .m.d. in another thread that he uses white muslin cloths to create those brilliant white backdrops - what other items can I attain to get better studio shots for next to no money?

A set of 500w worklights + stands from B&Q could be used, certainly wouldn't be my choice, but I've seen it done quite effectively. Shower curtains make good large diffusers, although using them with the worklights might be a bit of a fire hazard

I went with some cheap lighting

as follows

2 x light stands (£15ish from memory)
2 heads and umbrellas (£22 for ubrella and a head( FITP sent me one free)
two Jessops flashes (£15 each)

if you can sort out backdrops then thats great, not really tried thelighting fully yet but all seems to work well
