Sunpak Flashgun Metering

Sunpak PZ40X Flashgun
When I try to take an Auto or S/A prio shot with TTL the camera simply doesnt meter right, always extremely underexposed. What am I doing wrong?

I have a Nikon D80, and all pics are completely underexposed. When using the inbuilt flash it is fine, but a direct hit from the flashgun in TTL mode is pants *shrug*
