An old one, but Derek asking "What can I do?" brought it to mind. A fun project for a dark evening..

The instructions are here, and all that you need are a slightly spooky or eery subject and a desk lamp. Mixing in a flash or lightpainting with a torch is optional.

A plant in a pot, a desk lamp "moon", and a spot of fill from a couple of flashguns with some blue filters over them.

Based on an idead borrowed from Tim Johnson on the Strobist Flickr group.

Absolutely brilliant idea
Great choice of spooky tree and the blue filters give it that perfect finishing touch.

I've never seen it done before, but I'm sure this is going to inspire a lot of people to give it a try. It's such a simple concept but incredibly effective. (In fact I'm eyeing up one of my Bonsai trees as I'm looking at this)

i`ll be trying this,thanks (y)

Faved it on flickr, cool idea and brilliantly executed. The overall darkness destroys any sense of scale which works in its favour.

very nice idea- certainly food for thought (y)
