Tamron 17-50 and 28-75

Just a quick one, has anybody used both of these lenses? I have the 17-50 at the moment on my DX cameras but am looking to upgrade to a full frame camera (more than likely a used D700)

I'm happy with the quality of the 17-50 but obviously it won't work on the D700. I was wondering if the two were on a par quality wise? They seem to go for similar money second hand so i was hoping to sell one and buy the other.

If there are any other lenses that i should be looking at then i'm all ears, but i have gotten used to the luxury of a 2.8 zoom :) Are there any particular versions of the Tamron that i should look out for? (like the non VC with the 17-50)

I'm selling a D7000 and 18-105 and adding most of the extra money i have to the purchase of the D700 so wouldn't want anything much more expensive. In an ideal world i would go and buy a Nikon 24-70 but that's not going to happen any time soon. I would love it if i could swap round and end up with an FX version of what i already have, so if the 28-75 is worth having i will be over the moon. Any thoughts/observations would be greatly appreciated :)

I may add that i'm a people shooter, i have a 70-200, 50mm and 19-35mm lenses in FX format so i already have a good range covered. It's just a mid range zoom that i'd be needing for the off chance of needing a zoom.

The Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 is an absolute belter, just make sure you get a copy without the built in AF motor, the model with the aperture ring.
 
Your 17-50mm will work just fine on a D700 but it will switch the camera to DX mode. The results will still be great and it means you don't have to panic about finding a replacement straight away.
 
Thanks for the replies guys. I'm glad that it gets good reviews as I've been really happy with my current one. The fact I can use my 17-50 in crop mode is nice to know too, so I could as you say take my time over a decision :)

Is the one with the aperture ring different optics or is it just the fact that it focuses faster? I don't need one with a motor as my second body is a D300 but just wondered. If they are the same and it's just a focusing thing I'll aim for one without but perhaps keep my mind open about the later model.

Another thought was perhaps an old 35-70 2.8 but I'm not sure it would go wide enough on the D300, but then again that would just be a backup body anyway, and the 19-35 is covered in another lens...... A lot to think about hahaha
