Tamron 17-50 f2.8 query.

I have one of these lenses and when I do my long exposures with my lee big stopper and use f32 the images don't seem that sharp, is this normal?

I've been experimenting in user higher f stops with this lens but they don't seem that sharp, I think it's just me or caused maybe by refraction perhaps caused by the big stopper.

Your using f32? That's your problem there, I would use between f11 and f16, any higher and you start to risk diffraction from the lens which is probably causing the softness.

As said, f11-f16 is usually the sharpest f-stop. Depends what lens/body you use that will determine the actual sharpest. Lower the ISO to make the shutter speed longer.

Agree with above, f32 isn't sharp.
