Tamron 18-250 vs Tamron/Sigma 70-300

I'm currently considering replacements for my 50-200 kit lens (Samsung/Pentax) & have read lots of reviews etc on the Sigma/Tamron 70-300. It seems both are pretty similar & perhaps not significantly better then my kit lens.

The Tamron 18-250 gets very good reviews on Photozone etc & I wondered if anyone had compared this with the 70-300 options ?

I haven't compared them myself, but judging by the quality at 200 mm and more, you might be better off with the Sigma, if you'll get one at least as good as my copy and don't want the ultimate walkabout lens, which the 18-250 is atm

You cant really compare them as they are both optically different designs. One is a superzoom and one a dedicated telephoto.

To be honest, you wont really notice a significant gain in picture quality over your standard zoom now. You really need to plump for something like this to notice a difference. If it is just the extra reach your after then the 70-300 will fit the bill.
