Hi Folks,
I am thinking of getting a tele-extender to fit my Canon 5D Mk 4/70-200mm lens, so looking for advice on what to get.

I've found the canon 1.4x slightly better image quality than 2.0x both work well.
 
Sorry for the opportunistic post but I was going to list a MKII 1.4 converter in the classifieds this weekend, unbowed but unmarked as well IIRC :)

The forum rules are precise regarding the classifieds so we can't discuss in this tread, I have to go out for a couple of hours but when I get back I'll put an ad up and give you first refusal.
 
NOT Canon but I used to have both 1.4x and 2x teleconverters for using behind my Fuji 100-400. Still have the 1.4x but sold the 2x on (told the buyer why). I found that the extra reach of the 2x was compromised too much by the lost stop of light and that cropping in to the 1.4x converted images gave me better results.
 
I use the 1.4 and 2.0 converters both are excellent the 1.4 is slightly better
I would go for the newer version to be honest the MK 3
