Teleconverter for EF-S

Can anyone suggest a teleconverter (1.4X hopefully but 2X if need be) that will work with Canon's EF-S lenses? The only ones I can see on the net(Kenko, Canon) only work with EF lenses.
 
Not sure any will fit. The rear of EF-S lenses extends a bit from the back of the lens and there's no room for that in the telecon.

It's probably not a great idea anyway, you would lose AF, a stop of light (two stops with 2x) and a lot of image quality.

Always best to use the right lens for the job. There are no cheap options but telecons can work if you have no other choice and a very high quality lens to start with.
 
What lens are you looking to fit the telcon too?

There are many arguments on here about useing telecon but it all boils down to personal choice, Me I would not use one but other will and do.

it would be for the 55-250mm. I'm saving my pennies for a replacement for the 18-55mm kit lens and can't afford another telephoto as well as that.
 
It wouldn't fit on that lens.

If it did, you'd lose AF, but that's a moot point.

I'd just be content with the 55-250. Unless you are prepared to spend.

If you wanted to add a TC to a compatible lens with similar focal length and IS you are looking at the 70-200 for £900 plus the cost of the x1.4TC and that is still only 280mm @f5.6 (or £1700 2.8mkii plus the x2TC for 400f5.6)

Obviously its not just focal lengths that differentiate those lenses.
 
If I was to spend that sort of money I think I would just go for a longer telephoto with no TC.
 
Yeah that makes sense especially if you are primarily buying for the longer focal length.

Some folk seem to get on ok with the x1.4TC on the 70-200s giving them the option of some additional focal length yet a faster lens in its native focal length when needed.

Its all a compromise at the end of the day and one that I am currently pondering myself!
