Telephoto lens for 60D

I'm looking for some Telephoto recommendations for my 60D.

I'm looking to spend as little as possible at the moment to get myself used to using a telephoto lens and if I end up using it more than I think I will then I may splash out on a much better one. I do mostly videos so I don't mind if I have to get an FD mount lens or have to use an adaptor.

Your help is really appreciated.

The 55-250 is a good television which won't break the bank, there is also the 70-300 IS USM that is a tad more and still a great lrns
