you can see your signature in the window you get when you save it in your control panel...

as for pictures, just try it, if it doesn't work, edit it...
 
Try uploading one here Pete...someone will soon be along to advise if needed.

Ah got it, I was embedding the link not the embedded image !!

Anyway, it was a snap I took today between work and the car park, first blue'ish sky for ages

Pete the URL you are looking to paste between the image tags should always end in .jpg, anything else is not linking to a picture.

This assumes you are trying to post a jpg image of course and not a tiff or any other type of image format.
 
When composing a post, press the Go Advanced button, then the Preview Post button. That will show you exactly how your post will look before it appears on the forum.
 
If you click the 'Go Advanced' button you get a more featureful reply page, which includes a 'Preview' button. You can use this to see how your posting looks before you commit it.
