How so? Are there examples?
Thanks all for the Samyang 35mm/2.8 recommendation. A little IQ compromise for street photography is OK for me.
Now, do I wait for Black Friday to roll around? Do any particular retailers go crazy with 3rd party lenses? Ordinarily, I'd normally shop for used gear on MPB/CJ/LCE.

It's still light and quite a small lens compare to a lot of them.
well I have pictures as proof - https://flickr.com/photos/182074161@N04/albums/72157711068745692
Borrowed original non-IS canon 70-200/2.8+1.4x from a colleague and used it on sigma mc-11

Not doubting you at all. Just strange that Sigma say they don't work. So the hunt begins for an adapter!!
Btw that's the same lens I have on a "long term" borrow from my brother. Also got his 100mm f/2.8 Macro and 50mm f/1.4. This should keep me going for a while.
I know the RX100 III has been as low as £199 after cashback in the recent past, is there such a thing as a decent camera for a child for around £150 or would it need to be used (not really wanting used)?
why not used with warranty from dealer?
If I was buying personally I would probably buy used, a friend has asked for my advice with a £150 for her daughter and she's quite against buying her a present used. Personally think the budget is probably too tight but I thought you guys might have some ideas.
I can understand that, 150 would get some decent used stuff but new it’s a bit tight, probably have to up the budget.
Depends on the age/inquisitiveness of the child, I suppose. I love my RX100ii, but I think a super-zoom compact is a better proposition for most of the kids I know.
Raymond, what version Pelicase is that?Too big and I find vertical grip takes up too much room (in the case), adds bulk and weight and a waste of money.
I had one on a 5D2, didn't get it for the 5D3 and 5D4.
It won't fit standing up in the case.
She's going to be 11 in January. She borrowed my A6000 earlier this year and enjoyed it, hence wanting her own first camera. I think an RX100 1,2,3 would be best personally but out of budget. My friend asked about a god awful Kodak branded bridge camera, but I told her not to bother with that one.
Raymond, what version Pelicase is that?
Thanks, does it have anything under that top layer or is that for depth? Been looking for something that isn’t to big for the mirrorless set up and seems most roller bags are just huge1510 i think? It's been replaced by the air now.

Its deep enough for an 85GM to stand up.
Welcome to the madhouse.I'm joining the club guys
Just had a successful bid for a new A7ii with kit lens.
Can't wait to get it.
Cheers lolWelcome to the madhouse.
Cheers lol
Will need to get some extra batteries.
Any recommendations?
Thanks. Generally 35 is my preferred focal length. Considering the 55 as I want to take family snaps at Christmas...actually I’d better consider the 35..
The new FE 35mm f1.8 is rather nice though personally I use 24mm f1.4 and crop to 35mm when required (one of the benefits of having A7RIII imo).
Btw I notice you are in Guildford which is not too far from my place. You are welcome to try my camera and lenses (a no strings tied offer, just find it nice to socialise that's all )
I’m not convinced with that approach myself. Surely you get too close and you’re just going to distort faces something rotten and anything remotely near the edge is going to get the same effect.

35mm yes, 55mm has the blue zeiss badge so noThanks. That’s a very kind offer.
Placed an order yesterday for A7iii, 35 and 55 (am I supposed to refer to them as council house primes in this thread)
Do you Surrey people ever go to Thursley Nature Reserve?
I didn't say move physically closer which would distort. I said I use cropping. In APS-C crop mode it acts as 36mm f2.1
But cropping down to 20mp gives me roughly 35mm f2 Field of view
Thanks. That’s a very kind offer.
