I am on the Vulcan to the Sky mailing list and the most recent email spoke about the NZ restoration of this wonderful wooden wonder

In the email it mentions that there are now 3 that are airworthy..................let us hope one visits the UK sometime soonish :)
 
Well that brought a whinge to my eyes , last saw one flying back I; the early 70s at greenham common air show

I was surprised there doesn't seem to be an airworthy UK-based Mosquito! A bit of searching finds two projects that aim to fix this:

These are technically 'restorations', but so much of both original aircraft has been lost they are basically building them from scratch. Looks like the second project is pretty far advanced.

That was a joy to watch, brought back childhood memories of seeing them still being used as target tugs before they were replaced by Meteors.

Shades of Trigger's broom! Having said that, anything that gets another pair of Merlins in the air has to be a good thing.
 
Me too. As a native of Newbury, I was always spoilt in the early 70's with icons like the mosquito, spitfire, Vulcan etc
I wasn't far away , lived in southcote manor , reading then
