Just a show at what the capabilities are of the Canon EOS 40D and the Canon EF-S 55-250IS (thanks PaulBoy :D) aka the nifty-250.

Let's play a game :)
Guess the following without looking at the EXIF data.
1. Shutter Speed
2. Focal Length
3. ISO
4. Tripod or handheld

This is unprocessed (put through raw converter into jpeg and then resized)

A 40D and an IS lens is a pretty awesome combination isn't it? 1/20th is very impressive, you must have good technique as well.

Woopeeeee I have a 40D and the Nifty 250 YAY ME!

My "nifty 250" has to go in for repair :( really should send it in actually...

That's roughly the sort of numbers I was going to go for. The IS on the nifty 250 is superb. Good shot FP.

Great shot and the 40D with the 55-250 IS, is a great combination.

But I will better this, again a 40D this time with a 17-55 f/2.8, guess the settings!! and handheld.

Sorry its a non descript pic', but shows how good the IS on the canon lenses.

Good guess, the flash did fire.......but it was pitch black virtually............but 2 sec handheld................is 2 sec handheld regardless

If you think about it, if it's pitch black, and the flash fires for a fraction of that 2 seconds, that fraction of a second will be 'burned' onto the sensor, and since everything is pitch black, it won't make an imprint on the rest of it. you could do a 30 second exposure and it wouldn't look much different!
