How do you keep safe in such proximity to such a beast. A big cat can move very quickly and make short work of turning a person into dinner.

Steve, that was shot with a 400mm. In any case, when you're in a vehicle, somehow the big cats do not see you as prey, even when it's opened on all sides. It might be because they see the whole thing as one - i.e. too big to be consumed. However, if you're out of the 4x4, then you might well become cat food!
