I must say I have been a little slow to notice this range. Bags seem to be the most personal thing you can own, and you can never have enough! Have been looking at the small 5, thinking my D750 and 35/85 will go in there. Anyone have any of the bags in the range.

Have got a few think tank bits (holsters, belt and skins) and had an urban disguise a few years ago which I just didn't get on with. Like the idea that I could strap the flash skin to the side if needs be too.

I tried the retro 5 and it was too small, then the 7 which i found too big. I also felt that the velcro was too small and the flap would overhang too much and the velco wouldnt attach. There is also no clip.

I am now using the Think Tank Urban Approach 10. Its listed for mirrorless but it takes my D750 with 35/85 and BR strap perfectly.
 
I have also been looking for something to house the D750 along with 35/85 and maybe the SB-700.

I want something small and light and not too obtrusive and consider the Retro 7 but will take look at Urban Approach 10. Will monitor thread to see if anything else gets suggested.
 
Can't remember the model I had (was one of the first) but I found it too heavy for what it was, they are very well put together but there's a lot of weight in them. I also found the top opening fiddly with downward corner bits of fabric that seemed to have been placed there to snag on anything you are trying to pull out. Much prefer Billingham's economy of design.
 
I have the 5 and it fits my A7R with 24-70 attached, flash unit and my 35mm, plus spare cards and batteries and cloths.
I wasnt aiming for anything stylish but wanted something that didnt scream camera bag. When on holiday i usually leave the flash and have a bottle of water and suncream in there instead. Good size for mirrorless systems.

Thanks for the comments, interesting, as my usual bag for this small setup is a Billingham 207, which I do love but, getting into it quickly is my main gripe. Like the idea of just having a flap and that's it.
 
The one I posted is quite good as you can have it with both velcro and clip working or one or the other. its also good that the clip is tucked up under the flap so there is no excess hanging about.
 
I have a 20 and I love it. Comfy to carry. Doesn't look like a camera bag, plenty of space. Takes my body with 70-200 2.8 attached. I've even used it to go away for a night or two in the past.

It's a bag I will never sell and it feels better with age.

If you like the Billingham in general have you considered a Hadley pro? I find it a decent size and very quick to get into.

The main pro's for me are 1) build quality - excellent - and 2) they don't look like camera bags.

I have x2 D750 bodies, 16-35/4, 24-70/2.8, 70-200/2.8 zooms, 20/1.8, 35/1.8, 85/1.8 primes, x 2 SB600's and a LEE pouch full of filters and I can stow the lot away in just those two bags.
 
Dont ask but i have the 5/ 7 &30,the 5 will be to small for you,for an DSLR kit the 30 the best fit everything in an easy to work from,which is important to me :)
 
Will load mine with 35/85 combo later so you can see if its what you are after!

Similar setup to me Tom. One of the things I really like the look of about them is the fact they don't look like camera bags, perfect for being out and about. I have a Lowepro classified 160AW which I tend to use for holidays which is a similar concept.

Thanks Simon. Premier Ink isn't too far from me so I may have a look at them when I'm next passing.
 
The 35/85 combo fits perfectly in the Urban Approach. Let me know if you would like to see any pics.

Here you go. You can have the camera in on its side or lens facing down (either the 35 or 85). On the left I have my BR and waterproof case. Then taken pic with BR in front pocket so you can see room on that size - will fit a narrow lens or a flash upright. Also taken a pic so you can see depth. Hope these are of help! Oh and the D750 has manfrotto quick release place mounted.

Cheers @JJ! for the images. This could be what I am after also for my D750/35/85 weekend adventures. Is the strap comfortable for extended periods of walking? You reckon it can also take just the D750 with an attached Nikon 24-70? I do like the Retro 7 also. Decisions derisions!
 
I have the Retrospective 20 as my walkabout bag, usually housing a gripped 5D, 17-40, 24-105, 70-200 2.8, 580 exii and various other bits and pieces! It's a fantastic bag, very discreet which is handy with some of the places I have been with my camera!

Strap is great, nice padding with non slip stuff. You can pull the bag round and the padded part of the strap will just stay put as the rest of the strap glides through. Same strap as retro really.

It will take D750 with 70-300 attached and think legth wise there is not much in it compared to 24-70.

I like it more than retro 5 because it has clip and Velcro. Plus the clip is tucked under the flap so you wouldn't even know it has a clip!

I find it slightly more comfortable than the retro 5 as slightly wider and distributes weight well. It's also got some give in it so it sits nicely on the hip. It fits iPad too, if you really wanted to take one. Plus water proof over bag very handy.

Build wise its faultless and compared to the event messenger I tried, its in another league.

Bought mine from Harrison's and they do free delivery so if it doesn't work for you its only return postage.
