Thinking of swapping my GF2 for a G1 body - any thoughts

Yes
I am really sold on the 4/3 system. I mainly use the GF2 for street and candid shots, although have occasionaly taken it out for scenic stuff etc. The benefits of the GF2 body are best seen on the street when it doesn't look like 'pro' equipments. However, I miss having a viewfinder, but I'm put off by the price of the attachable electronic viewfinder so I am wondering about seeing if I can find someone interested in swapping for a G1 body or something.

I find myself getting bogged down in the pros and cons, and wondered if anyone had any thoughts?

Probably a good move the G1 or perhaps even G2 are very similar to your GF2 albeit as you say with the built in EVF.
I believe the add on Panasonic EVF isn't as good as the one built into the G1/G2, yes its a larger camera but if its going to give you the features you want then go for it!

G2 is a good price if looking in the right place! Tesco!

Considering a used G1 can be picked up for less than £100 these days I'd get one and probably keep the GF2 for times when smaller might be better. That would at least give you the chance to try them both side by side and if you can only afford one body you'd know for certain which one to keep.

+1 I'd agree with this, G1 can be had very very cheaply now.

You're both probably right. That would make more sense. I guess I just need to wait a bit and pick up a G1 body.

Thanks for the help!

Actually, 1 more question. Am I right in my understanding that the main difference between the G1 and G2 is that the G2 can do video?

Yes.

The button layout is slightly different too and AFAIK they shifted the wheel to the back on the G2.

Yes, on the G2 the wheel has been moved to the back of the camera and it has the addition of video which the G1 doesn't have. The G2 also has the touchscreen which the G1 doesn't.
