Looking at buying a Sigma 300MM F2.8 EX APO, just looking for some thoughts on it? I've read reviews but would prefer some 'real world' opinions. It'll mainly be for sport.

I've heard from some users that the 120-300 is actually sharper.
Can't comment on it myself, but the 120-300 is certainly more popular than the 300.

Oh, and if it's for your D700 I wouldn't get the EF version ;)

I had the 300mm and quite liked it, got some good images on a 7D, now have a 120-300mm and prefer the flexibility. The improved tripod foot is a big help also.
