Time lapse

I was wanting to make a time lapse video that will probably last about 24 hours, maybe longer, just wondering if anyone knows how i could do this, id like to keep my 650D free for taking different pictures but i have a tripod and will be leaving it in the corner of the room.

I think 2, 3 or 5 minute intervals will be fine, ive never done it before so any equipment, software or tips will be greatly appreciated.

I think the budget will be anything up to £400, i dont mind buying second hand as ill more than likely sell it on afterwards anyway, it would need to have enough battery or something i can plug it into, or if i can replace batteries between intervals, no problems, and wide.

Cheap intervalometer from ebay and a second battery will set you off.

So £20 for the intervalometer and whatever the battery costs. Obviously make sure your tripod or mount is rock-solid.

Turn off the AF, set the ISO, Set the aperture, float the shutter time, turn off the LCD screen, turn off review time, so the screen doesn't flash up the photos. Be prepared to use the intervalometer to set your exposure time, if you're shooting after dark and to go complete manual in these conditions. The more set values (ISO especially) you're working with, the more consistent your set will be.

Oh and test and then test again and be prepared to have to do the whole thing a couple of times over to get a good result.

Oh you might be able to use Magic Lantern on your camera, which builds the intervalometer into the camera firmware, so does away with the need for a third party intervalometer.

If you have a laptop, just use the cd that came with the camera and set it up in there. Im away from my home computer so cant tell you exactly how to set it up, plus all the shots it takes need no memory card in the camera.
