Tips on photographing foxes?

I was having a wonder around with the camera today when I stumbled upon a fox, clearly he saw me long before he saw me because he darted into a bush and that was that

I was hoping to go and try and photograph him if possible, there's definitely plenty of foxes around that area as there was a fair few small animal carcasses/feathers/body parts laying around.

Anyway, my question is; How should I go about it? I'm guessing get there before dawn and just wait it out? I only have a 210mm lens, will I even be able to get close enough with that, or will I be wasting my time? Do foxes tend to follow the same paths like rabbits ect? Would leaving some bait be an idea?

Thanks in advance :)
