got my first tennis tournament next week... I have never photographed the sport before.. What are the does and don'ts?.. are there any times you must not snap.. ie when serving maybe? Any tips appreciated :)

Usually at tennis we try for three spots. One will be courtside. Best lens would be 70-200. You can capture both server and receiver. Next spot would be higher up behind one end to focus on player at opposite end. Ideal lens I find is 300mm. Some photographers go even higher up if possible for different effect. As usual try and get the ball in shot but look for anything unsual too. Shoot when you want but dont move between rallies and only when players change ends. Also keep your backgrounds clean.
Heres a few from Nottingham last year.

I presume the higher at one end is a dedicated photo place? I also presume al decent courts have this...I will be taking 300 and 70-200 but the up behind one end sounds perfect as I prefer to do as much as I can with 300.. plus you will get both players at some point or another:)

Cheers for that.

Not really it just depends on where you are. One of the best tennis shooters in the country is Tommy Hindley of Professional Sport. His images are all over Wimbledon. Checkout their website for his work, you dont need a password to view the galleries.
