Hi,

If I buy a retail Canon lens will I get more money for it should I wish to sell it than buying a the same lens in a whitebox? i.e do the retail lens hold there value more ?

Thanks

I don't intend to sell the lens, but should I wish to for any reason then I guess I'd like to know if buying the whitebox version is a good idea.

The lens I have in mind are the EF 24-105mm L or the EF-S 15-85mm

I would save some money and buy a white box lens every time. My 24-105mm was a whitebox ex 5D kit bundle.
OEM box collectors worry me a bit.:suspect:

That's what I did. There's a very useful saving, even if you don't get a handbook for the lens ;)

I think buyers know you paid less for it, therefore they expect a bit off too.

"OEM box collectors worry me a bit"

I agree.

I like to see things in their original box as I think that it shows that the owner cares and looks after things but I wouldn't think any less if the box was a white one as we all know that all it means is that the lens was originally supplied in a kit.

"Lens in very good condition and supplied with end caps and in original white kit box" looks fine and perfectly acceptable to me. :)
