Tokina 16-28 f2.8?

I'm looking at UWA options for my D800 and the 16-28 f2.8 can be had much cheaper than both the 16-35 and the 14-24 and I wondered if anyone was using this lens and how they found its?

Very sharp, good value, but heavy and filters are difficult. Can be a bit flarey in side-lighting.

The 16-35 is a cracker of a lens but the 14-24 (@£1300 new) is the Nikon King for UWA - the Tokina would seem to do much the same with the f2.8 speed albeit without 14mm width.
The more I read about the lens the more I'm tempted to give it a punt at less than the cost of the 16-35......

If you do go for the Tokina make sure it's from somewhere you can try before you buy. I bought one and it was awful, but I'm lead to believe if you get a good one they're great.

Glad I took your advice, received a 16-28 today and it is awful! Nikon 16-35 f4 it is for me...

Thanks for this thread, it means now i can take out this Tokina lens as options and keep my eyes on the other 3 options left.

I doubt every single one of them is junk but the flaring is dreadful, its not sharp and generally not good - will probably go for the 16-35...
