Hi All, my 8 year old step daughter always takes an interest when I have the camera out, always asking for a go and seems to really enjoy it. She asked the other day if she can have a camera for Xmas so she can come out with me when I go out snapping.
My question is do I try find a cheap used Canon 300/350/400d so she can use my lenses etc or do I buy her a brand new bridge camera or even a compact to see how she goes on?
I think an 8 year old would struggle with the functionality of an SLR so it would probably be on permanent auto to start with but a bridge has manual settings too for later on.
Any advice greatly appreciated or compact/bridge suggestions as I have never really been in the market for one.
If the general opinion is get an SLR I'll post a wanted ad in the relevant section on here.
Many thanks, Rob.
