Yes
I've left it too late to get some Baader filter sheets but a quick Google suggests a Mylar emergency blanket would make a reasonable substitute filter material - would any normal PET* blanket do or does it have to be Mylar branded?

There aren't any more Transits of Venus in this century.

To shoot Mercury, you still have a week. I got a sheet from the Widescreen Centre in London delivered in 2 days.

Rother Valley Optics usually have quite a good stock of solar filter sheets.

I bought some just before the last eclipse (most places were out of stock) and it arrived within a couple of days.

I went with the Seymour stuff by the way (they sell Baader as well). It makes the sun a really nice orangey colour.

Sorry - got my Venus and Mercury mixed up and amended the title.

My early retirement money is dwindling so I just made do with a 99p PET blanket from eBay. Two small pieces taped over the end of my hood gets this - so hopefully it should pick up Mercury.

Rokinon 500mm 6.3 mirror uncropped and a dab of colour added.
