trigger for Canon speedlight and Bowens?

I have give up on the cactus type trigger for my speedlight - it just flashes when ever it wants to and not when I want it to.

Soooo, could anyone give me advice on the most reliable items to get to set off both the Speedlight off camera (Canon 400D) and the Bowens studio lights (I do have a trigger for those which has been reliable so far but I would like a backup). I keep looking at Skyports and Pocket Wizards but neither seem to have fittings to fit the speedlight?

the 580 ex11 has a sync port in the side, so you can either go to somewhere like maplins and buy a 2.5mm to 3.5mm headphone jack adaptor (they bout £2 if i remember right) or there is a pocket wizard cable whichis a 3.5mm jack to sync cable.

the 430 would require a hotshoe mount that has a built in sync slot(i think jessops got em) and use the connections as above.

i assume the bowens have a 3.5mm jack so the cable is supplied.
