Tripod advice please

As a general rule with tripods you can have any two of these three factors:
Light, Cheap, Sturdy
I've bought a carbon fibre Gitzo Mountaineer for travelling, it is light and sturdy, but not cheap. On the other hand my daily use tripod is a Manfrotto 055XProB which is sturdy and relatively cheap but not light.

This kinda depends on your definition of "expensive or heavy" but I can recommend the Benro Travel Angel 2 and B1 ball head. I bought one recently and used it in anger for the first time last week ... at the top of Snowdon 
It's just 19" long (including ball head) when folded, weighs just 2kg and is less than £190. It also has an added advantage in that one of the legs can be removed and fitted directly to the ball head to make a monopod - cool eh
I can vouch for it being sturdy - t'was blowy on top of the mountain

Nearly identical deal here apart from my Manfrotto is a much older 055CB
As said hard to get all three although my daughter has a Manfrotto 190 CXPRO4 which is light, folds down small , seems sturdy enough and not too pricy.

from what markmullen said, that right, theres cheap, light and sturdy.
when i bought my tripod 3 years ago i couldnt justify spending alot on a tripod, and i had a bridge camera then.
i went for this:

it was £20 when i got it 3 years ago,
this tripod is both very cheap and very light. it is sturdy to some extent but expect it to fall over in strong wind. i have yet to see it fall over and im always walking into in when taking photos. like i said iv had it 3 years and now that iv got a d3100, this tripid still works great.
im not saying dont get a braded/sturdier one, all depends on how much your going to use it.
