looking for advice on a lightweight tripod for use with a canon 1ds and flashgun (yet to buy a suitable flash) anyone got any ideas please ?

Manfrotto 190 or 055 will do, but buy a nice head with it. Geared/fluid heads might save you a bit of hassle every time you need to readjust the angle. Good heads alone will weigh over 1kg, so light is not really realistic with a pretty heavy camera setup
