Tripod for my D40

Hi all

I’ve recently bought a Nikon D40 with the 18-55 kit lens and the 55-200 telephoto lens. I also have the SB-600 flash.
I’m now looking for a decent tripod but am budget limited to about £50.I am new to photography so want to try a bit of everything(Close up, night time, landscape, portrait)so need an all purpose tripod.

I have been looking at loads and so far the Manfrotto 718B and either the Velbon Sherpa 450r or 600r seem to be the best.
Does anyone have any experience of these tripods?
Which one would you suggest I go for or is there another that I have missed.

Sorry you are right about the 450r. I must have looking at the 250

slightly over budget though. Hard to find a 'decent' tripod for £50 and under I think. For £100 there's quite a few options out there.

It won't take the larger telephoto lenses due to the weight, but its so light, compact and versatile that even if you do want a bigger and sturdier tripod you won't want to get rid of this.
