Tripod hand lugage

Anyone had problems carrying a tripod as part of hand lugage either going through check-in or later in an airport?

I have never had a problem and have regularly taken it as hand luggage.

If it is a proper one it won't fit into the tiny dimensions they set. Expect to take it in hold.

I've never tried it to be honest - always packed it in a suitcase.

I've always thought that it's a complete nightmare if the check in desk says "yes you'll be fine" and then you get to security and they say "no"

If you're checking a big enough bag, whack it in there. (IMO of course)

My tripod has always gone as part of my checked luggage. I wrap it the legs of my spare jeans and packs it with socks etc. So far so good, although it nearly always gets the once over by the TSA.

Agreed, I always put mine in checked in as well, far less hassle! Better that gets lost than my camera!
